Postural problems and repetitive strain injury

There are many occupations that involve long hours at a desk. This can cause pain related to poor posture or repetitive movement strain. For example:

• Low back pain
• Tendonitis
• Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis)
• Carpal tunnel syndrome
• Repetitive strain injuries

In addition physical work maybe associated with manual handling and lifting injuries. Including:

• Low back pain
• Inter-vertebral disc prolapse (‘slipped disc’)
• Sciatica
• Muscle strain

It is our role to help manage many work-related conditions. This is frequently the mainstay of osteopathic practice. Management includes ‘hands on’ manual treatment, advice and specific exercises to prevent painful episodes from recurring in the future.
